Chris LeDoux

The "Good Ride Cowboy" Monument Is Finally In Kaycee, Wyoming!!!

For all of you who made the trip to Kaycee, Wyoming for the unveiling of Chris LeDoux Park and the "Good Ride Cowboy" Monument you know what a special day it was.  There was an estimated 4,000 people in attendance and it seemed that everybody had a wonderful time and all got a chance to take in the park, the monument and the town of Kaycee and all it had to offer. I've posted a few photos but there will be plenty more to come as well as any videos I may come across.  As you can see D. Michael Thomas has done an outstanding job on the monument.  The photos really don't quite do it justice.  The detail is phenomenal!  Hopefully these photos give you a chance to enjoy Chris LeDoux Park and the "Good Ride Cowboy" Monument no matter where you may be in the world.

WOW!!!! im blown away!!! the guitar pick with "chris and Peggy" on it is a great touch since he was so dedicated to his wife. the wagon, im wondering if that came from his ranch or if someone donated it. one tiny gripe, no pic of the plaque at the front of the statue.

The folk that worked on the park deserve heart felt thanks for creating soemthing so magical and wonderous, truely a little bit of heaven here on earth!!!
Very deserving to such an awesome man.I was there with my wife and sons what a great job to all involved, thanks for a great time and GOD BLESS CHRIS LeDOUX & his family.
WOW !!!! This is an awesome tribute to a man who deserves this so very much. This was well thought out and planned. Chris is smiling from ear to ear he'd be proud and so should the whole LeDoux family. I think all of Chris's fans will agree great job, my hats off you. You are missed, thank you for sharing all this and keeping his fans in the loop.
just plain outstanding a very much missed individual his music will live on for ever looked forward to visiting again
Beautiful Memorial . I hope to see it someday. Love Chris's music, Easy to listen to. We Miss you Chris LeDoux
Looking at the pic of front gate and his 1976 title brought back wonderful memories. I bought an 8-track tape from Chris at the NFR when it was still in OKC. Few people knew of his music at that time, but I had been a fan since 1973. My hats off to all the people who had a part in making the memorial. I hope to be able to see it in person. "Good Ride Cowboy"
just stopped at Kaycee on Friday, July 16,2010. Loved the monument. I say Chris twice and being from a small town and rodeo background I can tell you I admired Chris more than any country singer out there. The town of Kaycee can be very proud of this powerful monument. I pray the best for his family and the power of country and western music.
Thank you for the pics. Being in NC, it may take me a while to get there, but I definitely want to see it in person. The park is wonderful, as was Chris - a truly great man and great talent! We miss him so much in NC. God bless the LeDoux family!
this is all amazing i bet chris is looking down on it right now and saying thank-you.
What a great tribute to an all time great!! Very touching tribute as well to the relationship that Chris and Peggy had together. Sure miss the excitement that I had each time a new album came out and rushed to the store to be the first to have it.
Visited sculpture garden while staying in the R.V. park near it and thought it was quite beautiful and restful - a place to meditate and enjoy nature. I'm sure the citizens of Kaycee are proud to have this in their town.
I hope I can see the park and statue in real life someday. It looks awesome in the pictures. Chris was a terrific performer and I love his music. I was lucky enough to see Chris play in concert 3 times at the Butte County fair in Gridey California 3 times. Always a great time and great show. He is truly missed by many. This park will keep his legend alive!!!
AMAZING! I love it! I am grateful for this tribute to one of my heroes. He wasn't a hero to me because of his riding or singing, but he is a hero to me because he loved his wife and children and honored them by being a good man. THAT makes him a hero to me.
Out of curiosity...was Garth Brooks there when this was dedicated? I feel like he should have been. Just wondering.
The Monument is great memory to The Great Chris Ledoux it is a special place to go to think about what a great man Chris was and a great singer he was and his music lives on.
i wish chris was still around i wonder what he would say he would be so grateful that he would probably cry a litte bit but cowboys dont cry.
I Looked at the monument and the grounds It just took my breathe away and I was thinking if he was still with us how big of a star he would be and he and Garth could do another song or a CD Chris Was a very talented manand a singer we will alway's love you Chris
I loved the comment by dnvrdoll1966; he was my hero too because of his love for his wife and family. I was also fortunate to be able to see him ride (many years ago) and to see a couple of his concerts. The last one was in Ft. Worth at Billy Bobs just before he passed away. He will be forever missed. I hope to visit Kaycee next week to see the monument. Can't wait!
My post is the one above---and I made it to Kaycee, WY from Northeast Louisiana. The statue and park is a perfect tribute to a great guy and to all who loved him.
Good job kaycee,Wy Looks great!!! What a man, he was and still, is every time you here one of them good ol songs.Chris is shinning down on Kaycee. You all should be proud of it, we no chris is!!! Georgia
The park is beautiful! I hope to see it in a couple years! Kudos to all those involved! In reply to one of the comments above, yeah, Garth was there! i've seen pics that prove it!
That is a truley amazing piece of Art.I'm really impressed. R.I.P. Chris. Jeff
We couldn't make the dedication ceremony due to a prior committment. What a beautiful monument to a heroic and poised man. We miss you Chris, and our thoughts are always with your family and friends. Can't wait to get to Kaycee and see the wonderous piece of art that depicts such a courageous and loving man.
Making vacation plans for 2011 and this will be on the route. I loved his music and play it weekly in my car. Good Ride Cowboy.
That is one great piece of art.world class to say the least just like the world class man on the horse. a one of a kind .there will never be another ,he broke the mold .gone before his time .the park is a wonderful place to reflect in peace and serenity.
I have been a huge fan for many years. I was riding in my car with my wife when we heard of his death on the radio. Chris Ledoux sang songs that we don't hear from anyone else. I am moving to Wyoming soon and I can't wait to take my family to the park. My four year old daughter is almost as big a fan as I am.
My dad rode against Chris back in the day of Lane Frost and Charlie Sampson. I had the chance to meet him but was to shy, I kick myself everyday now that I didn't do it That is the most beautiful thing that anyone can do for Chris and his Family to show that he will never be forgotten and is always in the rodeo cowboy and cowgirls heart. I'm in Wisconsin now but I'm a true western girl from (Greybull WY) by the way of north ID. I love Chris's music now and then and will always love it from one rough stock rider to another
Wow, that is beautiful. A piece that would make Remington proud, or jealous. Certainly of the highest quality, and the artist was obviously as talented as they come. The entire park is simply stunning. I look forward to riding my motorcycle there, and paying my respects. Simply beautiful! I can't describe it any better.
On the eve of his birthday, I came back to the website to see what had been happening and find this wonderful tribute. The statue is beautiful as is the park. I have loved his music since the late 70's and have fond memories of visiting with Chris throughout the years. I love the pick with Chris + Peggy. She is one special lady and I hope you are doing well. Hugs to all the family and thank you for sharing this great man with his fans. I know the highway from there to home was long sometimes...but we treasure the memories. God Bless CHRIS LEDOUX and his family!
I´ve never been to the US but the first two places I´ll visit one day when I´m there are Kaycee because of Chris and Menphis because of Elvis. I've just learned about Chris's life and carrer a few months ago and he has already won a special place in my heart. God bless you Chris Ledoux!!!!! Marcus Hawk Gravatá -Brazil
That is an awsome tribute, so Chris will live on in our hearts. Afterall, "A Cowboy's soul never dies". Skip Yochum, Nashville, TN
i think that the monument is amazing, the detail is so real looking it is unbelievable. i am so glad that they did it ,i spent most of my life listening to chris's music & i never met the man but i thought alot of him. i'm glad to see the monument god bless chris & his family

I apologise for not knowing that chris passed away my condolences to his family my father was ray neville a folk hero to the australian public in 1948 at the age of fifteen he created history by winning the melbourne cup this horse race now world wide recognised is the same as every cowboys dream Of that one ride at the national finals dad died in 2008 and this year there was a rayneville memorial plate ran in his honor its hard to see these legends ride the moonlight trail yet we know they are still with us chris with his music and my legacy from my dad that of being a good horseman

I respect the MAN for who he was not just for what did! LEDOOUX IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am a farmer from Indiana. We went to Wyoming on vacation this summer. My 13 yo old son had become a LeDoux fan, and he brought his ipod full of Chris's songs. To humor him, we decided to stop at Kaycee. As we drove down from Buffalo, looking at that beautiful country, and listening to that music, and stopping at that tremendous park, I must say, I became a LeDoux fan. I can't stop listening. Thank you to all who had a hand in it. On an amazing trip, this was one of the highlights. Just wish Chris was still here!

To borrow from one of Chris's songs - Some folks made a living, others lived their dream.
The character of Chris's music is surely a reflection of his his personal character. When I heard of his death I was sad not for my loss but your loss, as he surely was dearly loved by all who knew him. I learned to love and respect his music back in the 90's, it's originallity and colorful representation of life. His music speaks and delivers the warmth of his love for life. His memory will live on. Thanks for such great music Chris. A Legend never dies. God bless the Chris Ledoux family.

I wish I could see the monument it looks beautiful(and I like the face) but I am stuck here in North Carolina. Maybe I can get my parents to bring me there.

great pics and well deserved tribute to a great man i can not wait to see it in person just looking at the pic's and reading all the coments brought a tear to my eyes...chris is truly missed
My husband and I were in Kaycee for 12 days while they set the monument in place and for the dedication. Totally awesome and worth the trip. One of you asked if Garth was there. I held a beer for a fellow trying to juggle three and I told him he looked just like Garth Brooks. He said he gets that all the time. Could of been him??? I say it was and that's my story. Love Chris LeDoux's family. Love you Bud!
I was lucky enough to be at the dedication and recently stop by with my daughter I'm still moved I'll never forget the dedication and will smile when thing about that day Thanks to his family and Kaycee
Let me tell you of the legend of Chris Le Doux’s love for God, his wife Peggy, the countryside and for all people. He always was, and will be, a legend, man of a man, with a heart of gold (I don’t mean pocketbook), who was never too proud to care for all people. I got acquainted with him, on a limited basis, on the 2nd floor lobby of the Stockman’s Hotel in Elko, NV. During the 1st and 2nd annual cowboy poetry convention, lots of the musicians gathered in the lobby and allowed out of town guests to join them. The musicians played ALL night long! When it turned one minute past midnight, Chris announced that it’s Sunday. Folks, let’s each give honor to God with a Christian song, As the legend of a man he was, and will always be, he said I’ll start. “Amazing Grace” rang out in that lobby. Not many kept a dry eye, I sure didn’t! Hits you right in the heart! One at a time, the other musicians took their turn, some promised to learn and include Christian songs in their repertoire. Second year, I returned. I had the privilege of seeing Chris and Peggy dancing together. She’s much shorter than he is, and she sure had green colored eyes. He was totally devoted to his wife. Chris allowed me the privilege to be part of a trick he played on a “friend” of his to teach him a lesson, the man was a selfish cowboy musician who story says later became a movie director. As Chris followed through on his promise of payment, to perform in Vale, OR and asked me to meet him backstage to talk. Unfortunately, I was married at that time to a selfish man, and no amount of begging would make my husband allow me to meet Chris backstage. Chris Le Doux was/is a man of his word, wow did he pack that high school gym!! When I became divorced, I returned to WI to get acquainted with nieces and nephews. That hasn’t even worked very well. Due to extreme circumstances, for years and years, I lost my memory of everything that was ever important to me. Now I’m stuck in WI without the $ or job to return home to the west. LESSON: You’ve got to find what’s in your heart and stick with it. The west is a land of freedom, and people who really know how to be a friend. A Legend never dies…thanks Chris, Peggy, cowfolk who gathered in Elko, NV, and other people who are real and honest
Yall have don a grate job
Awesome. Hope I get to see it in person one day!
What a wonderful Tribute to an American Legend! He is deeply missed in our hearts but always remembered. I had the pleasure to attend many of his concerts and looked forward to the state fair every year because of his music. I too hope I get to see it in person one day! He is looking down thru the floors of heaven smiling and tapping his boot to the greatest songs ever. God bless his family and thank you for sharing such a wonderful gift with the rest of the world!

World Champion Bareback Rider, Hell, World Champion Man! My hats off to you Chris. You're welcome in my camp anytime.
Just went on a 43 hr road trip through WY and Montana all to the soundtrack of Chris LeDoux! It was chilling when we pulled into Kaycee. What a great monument to a true role model who's music is under appreciated by the main stream but you know what, I kinda like it that way! Wish there was a way to post our pics from the park on this site!
God Bless Chris LeDoux! It's that simple! I'm a city girl, don't know much about rodeo, but I can tell ya, growin' up in Cheyenne means you know Chris or ya don't. And if ya don't, you don't know what you're missing. Ya ain't gotta be country to respect such a man. Love ya, Chris, there will never be another you! God Bless Chris LeDoux!
We have a lot of Rodeos and great cowboys here in Brazil...and Chris sure is a great hero here too!God Bless Chris Ledoux and his family!
All I can say is AWESOME!! I hope to visit there some day soon. God Bless to Chris and his family.
Just showed these pics to my husband and we hope to make it out to the park one day. It looks awesome and can't wait to see in person. RIP Chris.
WOW!!!! I am blown away. What an amazing tribute. I finally got to see Chris at the Wild Horse Saloon in Nashville the summer of 2005. Being in Florida, it will take me a while to get there. Its on my bucket list near the top. Love and miss you Chris. Good Ride Cowboy
A beautiful tribute to a wonderful man. I was so very sad to hear about Chris's passing, he is one of my favorite singers, I love his voice. I am so very glad I got to see him in concert when he came to Rapid City. He was an amazing entertainer and incredibley handsome too. I am so glad he was an old fashioned family man, it gives a person hope that there are still men like him in our country. He is sorely missed but I'm sure he's an angel in heaven.
This is beautiful! Job well done for sure! I shed a tear as I scrolled thru the pictures!
That's a beautiful memorial. I hope the Communist Chinese appreciate it when they come and take over.
A well-deserved offering to a country god. wish I could get there one day to see it myself.

RIP Chris!
Wonderful. I hope to see it in person one day soon. Such a great voice. He is dearly missed. May god bless his family and watch over them always
Goodbye Chris! It was always great stopping at the Texaco star knowing that you had been there. Thank you for signing for a blind woman who loved you. Rest in peace, hope to see you on the other side.
On August 7,2012 little Miss Ledoux, is scheduled to make her arrival into this world. Baby Ledoux's mama and papa are currently residing in San Diego. with dad deployed to Afghanistan. Ledoux's room has an autographed picture we found of Chris, and we are so excited that the next generation will be part of his legacy! To see baby Ledoux's development visit www.lilbabyabel.blogspot.com We miss you, Chris Ledoux
I'm a huge fan of Ledoux and he has always and will always be a big inspiration to me and other roughstock riders throughout time. His music, His talents, his love for the ride..........beautiful park and tribute. God Bless!
My 4h Livestock judging team loved it. We stopped to check it out on the way too the NILE. It's very beautiful! We have judged in Nashville and stopped at Graceland. The front gates at Chris Ledoux Memorial park were far more spectacular than those at Graceland. We will be stopping again with a new batch of judging kids and I am sure they will appreciate it also. Knowing all that Chris ledoux did for 4h and rodeo kids thru his life. Makes this a great spot to see on our travels.
Miss you Chris. Love your music. Your memory is everlasting. Your death was way premature for music is eternal and will live forever. (November 15, 2012)
We made it to Kaycee in June of 2012 a week after the c second celebration and found not only a beautiful park but also found Peggy working in the park. Had a real nice chat with her and got a chance to have pictures. We found her to be a very beautiful and friendly lady. For those who read this and do not know who Peggy is, she is Chris's wife.
i cant wait to see this in person this summer me and my wife will make the trip from utah just to see this!!! awesome good job.
This past weekend I drove from the Denver, CO area to Billings, MT. I didn't realize I would be going right past Kaycee, WY. Was lucky enough to be able to take a few minutes and stop to see the park. What a beautiful place! Ms Ledoux, you should be very proud!
